He's a Real Boy

Last year propped up against pumpkins with mommy close by in case I fall.

My big boy at the Pumpkin Patch this year!

When did that happen by the way? When did my sweet little baby turn into a little boy? As any mom knows it comes with such a mix of emotions. It's hard to let go of him being a baby even though I know he's still pretty young. He won't fall asleep on me anymore. Instead he points to his bed. Shhh don't tell anyone but the other day I put him in his crib for a nap and after he had been asleep for 15 minutes I went in and picked up him up and put him in bed with me so I could nap with him and cuddle him. We've been off bottles for quite awhile too. He'll give you a quick hug but then it's off to play. It's hard and wonderful all at the same time. I have a letter that my mother wrote me over 10 years ago and in it she describes how every stage of my life was her favorite. She says when I was a newborn she thought nothing could be better then this, this peaceful baby sleeping in my arms. Then when I was a toddler she thought nothing could be better then this, this adorable toddler discovering the world around her. As an older child watching them gain independence and being able to do so many fun activities with them, she thought nothing could be better then this. As and adult being friends and not just mother and daughter, surely that must be the best. I find her words to be so true with Maddox as well. Every stage of his life has been my favorite and I can honestly say that I feel so blessed to be exactly where I am in my life.

Maddox is still such an easy baby. He is happy and laid back. I'm pretty sure the laid back part comes from Daddo (Maddox pronounces Daddy as Daddo). He has been walking since the day after he turned one and now it seems like he runs all over the place, while yelling RUN RUN RUN! He's talking up a storm . I have no idea how many words he has, but I'd guess between 150-200. The words he knows crack me up sometimes. For example of his first 50 words at least 20% of those were transportation vehicles. Car (caaaah. it's very jersey), truck (kuck), fire truck (ir uck), mail truck (ma uck), motorcycle (cickle), bus, boat (bop), bike, wagon (ah en), tractor (ack er ) not to be confused with cracker (cack er), He also knows screwdriver, hammer and saw. I remember being so nervous when we found out we were having a boy. I know how to play dress up and have tea parties but the boy things???? yikes! Let me tell you I am having more fun then I ever thought possible rolling monster trucks around the house and talking about motorcycles and tractors. I'm not sure how we got so lucky!
Driving the big truck at the park is super cool. Obviously.

Jenny, he is absolutely beautiful. I can tell from the photos (and the brief time I got to hold him) that he has the sweetest disposition, too. What a little charmer. Saying 'you're so blessed' seems so cliche... but I think it's absolutely true. xoxo

Holy cuteness! How do you keep from squeezing him too hard?! That face just begs to be cuddled.

Such a cool letter from your mom. Funny how so many of the feelings and thoughts that go with motherhood are universal.

I have never heard of another kid that says Daddo until NOW! Ella and Kate (and Big Daddo Nick) certainly approve. :)

Thanks for making me cry at work. I love him. And you. And Jeffy. And hell, Henry too. But not the big dogs :)

Aw, he's adorable! Andrew loves vehicles too. It's funny how early that starts, isn't it? Where did it come from? I certainly didn't have anything to do with it!
